Today we had our annual Colour Team Sports Day.
Ms. Ryan and Ms. O'Brien brainstormed activities with our Active School Committee and recruited volunteers across the school to bring in the equipment we needed for our day of fun.
We we're delighted to see the sun out in force this morning and excitement mounted as eagle-eyed pupils spotted a crocodile bouncy castle popping up before break time.
After a quick sos, we were out in force in our colour groups which consisted of a mix of Juniors to 6th for a quick bit of motivation.
Then everyone went along with their classes around to the stations: Musical Statues, Dribble Races, Spud and Spoon race, Tug of War, Three Legged Race, Bouncy Obstacle course and Dizzy penalties. Following tradition, 6th class helped the teachers man the stations and keep score.
The fun was followed by a visit from an ice-cream van, to celebrate the playschool's graduation day, before the big reveal of who the winning team was.
After a tally of scores, the White Team were announced winners for a second year running and got to choose from a range of prizes including hula hoops, balls, archery sets, water guns, sliotars, rackets, frisbees and a range of other prizes to help keep the children of Golden NS fit and active over the summer break.
Well done to all who took part and a very warm thank you to all the 6th class students and active school committee members who ensured the day went off without a hitch!
We woild like to thank Tipp Top Bouncy Castles for our fantastic bouncy obstacle course also.
