Harry Magee R.I.P
Harry Magee R.I.P
Sunday, March 28th 2021 marks the First Anniversary of our much loved caretaker Harry Magee who served the school faithfully for over 14 years.
Harry’s presence is still hugely missed by everyone in Golden National School. The spring flowers are a constant reminder of all his dedicated years of labour and fostering a love of nature in all the children who attended our school.
St. Patrick’s Day was not the same this year without his annual giving of pots of shamrock to all the staff. During the year we planted a tree in Harry’s honour and we will have a mass in his memory when restrictions are lifted.
May Harry bloom forever in the garden of Heaven.
Today, the children discussed their fond memories of Harry and put their reflection in a short note. See below comments for an insight into the wonderful relationships built up with Harry.
‘Harry taught all of us about nature. He was working his socks off for this school, even
in his last few months. The most valuable lesson he taught us was that age is just a
number.’
‘He was such a lovely, caring person and wanted nothing more than to put a smile on
someone’s face.’
‘I loved the way he was so nice to us and if he a ball got stuck up on the roof, he would
take 10 minutes out of his time to get it.’
‘Harry was a great man, great caretaker and a great friend. May he rest in heaven
peacefully. We love you Harry.’
‘I’ll always remember looking forward to Harry’s nature walks. One of the highlights of
the year.’
‘Harry Magee was a very generous man. He would take time out of his day to look after
the school. We wish you could have been around longer. Rest in peace Harry.’
‘Harry was always kind and excellent at gardening and taking care of everything he
planted.’
